Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can come straight to us for both initiation and ongoing supply. We'll keep your GP informed only if you'd like us to.
Which contraceptive methods can you supply?
Most combined and progesterone-only oral contraceptives. For LARCs (implant, IUD, injection), we'll refer you to a sexual health clinic that fits them.
Can men use this service?
It's primarily aimed at women's contraception, but we provide condoms, give clear advice on male options including vasectomy referrals.
Is the consultation confidential?
Yes — completely. We won't share anything with your GP, family or partner without your consent.
Can under-16s access this?
Yes, confidentially, following Gillick competency guidelines. We treat every consultation with the same respect regardless of age.
Is the contraception service free?
Yes. It's an NHS service, so the consultation and your contraceptive pill are free.
What happens at the appointment?
A private conversation about your health and the options that suit you, with a blood pressure and weight check if needed. Where it's suitable, we supply your pill at the same visit.
Can you continue a pill my GP or clinic started?
Yes. We can provide ongoing supplies of an oral contraceptive pill first prescribed by your GP or a sexual health clinic.
