Which jabs?
Which travel jabs do I need?
It depends on where you're going, when and for how long, what you'll be doing, and your health and past vaccinations. We plan it against your itinerary at the consultation. For country-by-country travel vaccine guides, see Basingstoke Travel Clinic.
Malaria
Malaria prevention.
If you're visiting a malaria area, we'll recommend antimalarial tablets that suit your destination and your health, from £2.75 a tablet. Read about antimalarial tablets and malaria advice before you go.
On the NHS
Travel jabs that may be free.
Some travel vaccines, such as typhoid, hepatitis A, cholera and the diphtheria, tetanus and polio booster, are usually free from your GP surgery. Ask your surgery first; we can provide the ones that aren't.

Questions, answered.
How far in advance should I book?
Ideally 6–8 weeks before travel so multi-dose vaccines can be completed. We can still help with last-minute trips using accelerated schedules — call us.
How long does immunity last?
It depends on the vaccine. Hepatitis A gives 20+ years; typhoid roughly 3 years. We'll record everything on your certificate.
Are travel vaccines safe during pregnancy?
Some are, some aren't. Tell us if you're pregnant or trying — we'll pick what's safe and flag anything that isn't.
Which vaccines do I need for which country?
It depends on the region, season, your activity (rural / urban / safari) and your health. The consultation maps it all out clearly.
How much is a travel consultation?
£20, and it's waived if you go ahead with any vaccine or treatment. Vaccines start from £40 a dose.
Can I get travel vaccines on the NHS?
Some, yes. Typhoid, hepatitis A, cholera and the diphtheria, tetanus and polio booster are usually free from your GP surgery. Others, such as rabies or Japanese encephalitis, are private.
Do you provide malaria tablets?
Yes. We recommend antimalarial tablets to suit your destination, your health and any other medicines you take. Prices start from £2.75 a tablet.
Can children have travel vaccines here?
Yes. We vaccinate children as well as adults, and some vaccines have children's versions and prices. Tell us your child's age when you book.
I'm travelling soon. Is it too late?
Not necessarily. Some vaccines work quickly or can be given on faster schedules. Call 01256 322973 and we'll see what can be done before you fly.
What should I bring to my appointment?

Are you a yellow fever centre?
Yes. We give the yellow fever vaccine and issue your certificate in the same appointment. See our yellow fever page for details.
Can I book a travel appointment on a Saturday?
Travel appointments run Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. The pharmacy itself is open on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm for everything else.
