Both Mounjaro and Wegovy are GLP-1 weight-management injections, both work, and both are available privately at Brighton Hill. But there are real differences worth understanding before you decide.
The active ingredient
- Wegovy contains semaglutide — the same molecule as Ozempic, just at a higher dose.
- Mounjaro contains tirzepatide — a dual agonist (GLP-1 + GIP), which is why most patients see more weight loss on it.
Average results
In head-to-head trials over 72 weeks:
- Mounjaro (10–15mg): average ~20% body weight reduction
- Wegovy (2.4mg): average ~15% body weight reduction
Mounjaro generally outperforms Wegovy. But individual results vary widely.
Side effects
Both can cause nausea, particularly in the first few weeks while you titrate up. Mounjaro is sometimes slightly better tolerated due to its dual action, though that's patient-dependent.
How to decide
We start every patient with a 30-minute consultation — full medical history, BMI, blood pressure, and a frank conversation about your weight goals and lifestyle. We'll match you to the right treatment, not just the trendier one.
Cost: Wegovy from £99/month, Mounjaro from £149.99/month at our pharmacy. Consultation £20 (waived when you start treatment).
