Our weight-loss service: what happens at your consultation
What to expect from a private weight-loss consultation at Brighton Hill Pharmacy: who it's for, what we check, what it costs and how follow-up works.
Thinking about medical weight-loss treatment? At Brighton Hill Pharmacy the first step is a face-to-face consultation with one of our pharmacists. Here's what it involves.
Who the service is for
Adults aged 18 or over with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. Treatment isn't right for everyone, and we'll tell you honestly if it isn't right for you.
What happens at the consultation
- We talk through your health, your medicines and your weight history.
- We check your height, weight and blood pressure.
- If treatment is suitable, we agree a plan together, including how you'll take it and when we'll see you again.
It takes about 30 minutes, in a private room in the pharmacy.
What it costs
The consultation is £20, refunded if you go on to start treatment. Treatment starts from £89 a month, depending on the option and dose that suit you, and follow-up reviews are free.
Injection or tablet?

Follow-up
We review your progress regularly, usually monthly, checking your weight, blood pressure and any side effects and adjusting your plan where needed. Treatment works best alongside changes to what you eat and how active you are.
NHS options
The NHS also offers weight-management support, and some people are prescribed weight-loss medicines through NHS services after a GP referral. Your GP can tell you what's available to you.
